I just bought a 71 MGb and just joined this site to be a member. I have a repair question: I need to have the boots relaced on the rack & pinion. Does the rack have to come off for this repair or can I just replace the boots. It's not in the manaul. I'm grateful for any help. ???

Hi Bob,
The OEM boots for the rack are one piece. They do not require the rack to be removed from the car, but the tie rod ends have to be removed, both from the the spindles and unscrewed from the ends of the arms of the rack.
You will also need to get an alignment once the tie rod ends are reassembled.
