Title: Door Panels Gasket
Post by: september2019 on August 11, 2019, 03:18:54 PM
I am looking for advice. I am working on the door panels for my 1979 MGB. We have cut out the waterproof board to put new vinyl on. The problem we are having is how to cut the holes for the fasteners so that we can put the panel on the door.

We have tried several ways, but are having issues with the board fuzzing around the hole. I am looking for suggestions on the tool to use. If you have done this do you change the type of clip that is used?

It is a keyhole type of cut and the clip slides from larger hole to smaller hole. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Depending on the thickness of the panel you can use a gasket punch like this.

I  have used mine for years to pop holes in many parts such as cardboard, cork gasket material and even materials such as 1/8 hardboard.
