This light keeps going on and off. Can you fine folks tell me what it means?

That is the charge indicator light. If the ignition is on and the car not running then it should light. Once car is running it should be off. Sometimes at idle it will have a faint glow if all of your lights are on with the heater at full blow, wipers at full speed and anything else electrical going. If it is on it means the battery is not charging which could be the alternator/generator, voltage regulator, loose fan belt, bad battery or any of the wiring or grounds involved.
