Transmission linkage
« on: September 18, 2006, 01:45:15 PM »
I have just purchased my first MG (1976 MGB) and have just found your forum.  Having never seen the "old" version (pre 9/13) I do not know how much info was out there that would need to be reposted. (I would have spent a long time in the FAQ section, if available)

so here is my question.

The car i purchased was recently disassembled for a complete paint job.  That is the good news, the bad news is it has been "thrown together".  It appears as if the linkage for the tranny is not aligned properly.  (Note, the tranny is a 4 sp, but does not appear to have the EOD)

I was wondering if there were any good articles about adjusting the linkage, I am unable to get the car into third gear, all the others seem ok, although the lever does a lot of swimming around, and there does not appear to be any type of "gate" to get into reverse.
