Which distributor did you say was best for the MGB?

The engine runs best with the 40897 (in a 25D body) or a 41427 (in a 45D body).  But both of those require ported vacuum.  If you're using HIF carbs, Rob Medinsky can drill a port in yours -- British Vacuum Unit dot com. Either Medinsky or Schlemmer (Advanced Distributor) can provide you with one of those distributors.
   
Timing in ALL cases is 32° BTDC at full mechanical advance (3-4000 rpm), vacuum disconnected, or 12° static.
